Dr. Paul on the Economy and Bernanke

February 28, 2008

The other day Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke was on the Hill where he was challenged by Congressman Paul and others about the state of the economy and the role of the banking cartel Federal Reserve. This is perhaps where Dr. Paul shines most. He has a firm grasp of economics, unlike any of the other presidential candidates, which he demonstrated when he was allowed to talk in the debates.

Dr. Paul regularly shows that he is the smartest guy in the room, especially when it comes to economics. Daily Dose has been posting about many of these economic issues lately and I encourage you to head over there and check out almost everything posted on 2/27 and 2/28. They have some great videos, good commentary, and sad examples of AP reporting to entertain and depress you. : )

To get you started… (Don’t worry; these videos rated SFAC-Gen: Safe for Anti-Confrontationalist -General Audiences)

Congressman Paul’s Opening Statement

Congressman Paul’s Opening Question

Now head over to the Glick Report and read a great short post and watch the accompanying video where Alexis Glick interviews Dr. Paul regarding the hearings. Seriously. Go watch the video. I’ll wait.

la dee da di daaa……

Good video, eh? It’s nice to see a Faux News channel offer such fair and balanced reporting. As I said, there is a lot more good stuff about all this on the Daily Dose. Browse around, particularly on the 27th and 28th.

Enjoy!

Global Warming or Global Governance?

February 27, 2008

I’ve added the film, Global Warming or Global Governance to the Films to Inform section in an effort to help show that there are two sides to the global warming story.

The Neo-Cons have their “War on Terror” and the liberals have “Global Warming.” Of course, both lead to a loss of liberty, a loss of sovereignty, a global governance or a combination of the three. Which makes you wonder: how different are the two major political parties? Suffice it to say, not much ultimately.

Now go back (down) and read the Carroll Quigley quote again (2/26/0 8) and let that play out in your mind. If the goal of the two-party system is to have each party seem to be diametrically opposed to one another, while actually moving towards similar or the same goals, what better way to foster this opposition than by fabricating giant issues such as a War on Terror and Global Warming (the former of which cannot logically be won this side of paradise and the latter of which is so mired in junk science and propaganda that its legitimacy cannot be demonstrated by experts, much less laypeople) for partisan sheep to rally behind, distracting them while the government steals their liberties and creates new taxes, unhindered and unquestioned.

Whew! That was a long sentence, I know. Sorry. Now go back and reread it if it didn’t register. : )

I will stop now before this post becomes and article. Check out the film then go do some digging on your own. Whether you believe Global Warming is a man-caused global disaster requiring the uniting of nations to save us from some sort of apocalyptic end or you are intelligent think that, while global stewardship is important, the “global warming” indoctrination is mostly political hype with ulterior motives, you need to know both sides of the story and then make an informed decision.

(sorry about that “intelligent” jab. It was a cheap shot, I know)

ADDITIONAL NOTE: Because it is common for Global Warming proponents to attack critics as being anti-environment, I want to make it clear that I am far from an anti-environmentalist. In fact, I personally believe in what I have called Global Stewardship which is certainly pro-environment. I don’t question our responsibility to care for the environment. I simply question the motives behind those who would manipulate this issue to further a political agenda, facilitate the restriction or loss of liberties or worse. There is no philosophical or practical need to combat anti-environmentalism with anything other than education and possibly state-legislated actions.

Democrat or Republican? Who Cares?

February 26, 2008

“The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to the doctrinaire and academic thinkers.

“Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can ‘throw the rascals out’ at any election without leading to any profound or extreme shifts in policy.”

Films to Inform Update

February 26, 2008

I have just added a couple new videos to the Films to Inform section.

Both are listed in the Bonus Materials section. First, check out an interview with the late Aaron Russo, a gentleman who led a very fascinating life and fought courageously for the cause of liberty. His films, particularly Freedom to Fascism, have inspired millions to rethink the world in which they live.

Second, listed below the interview, I have added a couple of links to the film, All Jacked Up. All Jacked Up is a film directed primarily at teens and the younger generation - and for good reason - but don’ let that deter you from watching and considering this film’s important message.

For many years now we have been poisoning ourselves and our children with food that is practically being shoved down our throat. The danger is real and the evidence is overwhelming. Heck, just look around you. Or look in a mirror perhaps. There is no denying the fact that, generally speaking, we are not a healthy people.

Additionally, I have added a link in the blogroll for Natural News. I have just recently discovered this site and so far it has been a great resource for information that I would not normally have known about. Keep an eye on it.

Vaccine Companies Investigated for Manslaughter

February 25, 2008

While I sometimes get annoyed at the “email sign-up” reminders at Mercola, I do enjoy and appreciate a lot of the information they bring to my attention.

Ali and I have this thing about sticking needless needles in our children - crazy, I know - so I found this article interesting.  I better leave it at that.  If I keep writing I will get all riled up and never shut up.

A formal investigation has been launched by French authorities against two managers from drug companies GlaxoSmithKline and Sanofi Pasteur. A second investigation for manslaughter has also been opened against Sanofi Pasteur MSD.

The investigations are in response to allegations that the companies failed to fully disclose side effects from an anti-hepatitis B drug used between 1994 and 1998.

During this time, close to two-thirds of the French population, and almost all newborn babies, received a hepatitis B vaccine. The vaccination campaign was halted after concerns rose over the shot’s side effects. <read the rest of the story>

On the Practically Secret North American Union (NAU)

February 25, 2008

I wouldn’t be surprised if many of you have heard little if anything about the North American Union.  It is effectively being ignored by the media and is completely neglected in the presidential debates.  Yet, this is one of the most important and significant issues you will likely address (or not address as the case may be) in the coming years.

Instead of giving you the story here, I want to send you over to Natural News to read about it.  Please follow the link below to read the rest of the story.  This is important.

One issue that is conspicuously absent from the rhetoric of the presidential candidates is the North American Union (NAU). The questions of immigration and border security are frequently raised and the candidates claim to realize the need for a clear immigration policy and effort to secure the borders of the United States. Yet when you begin to understand the purposes of the North American Union and the agenda of its proponents, you will understand why this will never happen. And you may also begin to see that you are being manipulated by the major candidates.   <read the whole story>

Soon you will be wishing you voted for Ron Paul.  There is still time to support him.  And there is still time to support liberty, during this election and beyond.

Family Update

February 24, 2008

What? A post that is not about politics? I know. I know. It’s been awhile.

Anyways, Ali is officially due on March 18 and that means that we are getting down to the wire. Also, for a number of reasons, people around here are expecting Abby’s little brother or sister to come early. Suffice it to say that things are a bit hectic at the Morrow homestead.

As most of you know, we did not find out if the baby is a boy or girl. Abby seems to think it will be a girl (she also thinks we should name her “girl”). Ali has gone from boy to girl and back again, so that isn’t much help. I have no feeling either way. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Judge Shuts Down Wikileaks Web Site

February 21, 2008

Introduction from the article:

Wikileaks.org, a whistle-blower Web site that enables the anonymous (and, in theory, untraceable) leaking of confidential government and corporate documents, has gone dark.

Although Wikileaks’ silencing was sought by anti-democratic governments worldwide - including China, whose censors work mightily to block all access to the site - Wikileak’s plug was pulled, ironically, by a federal judge in San Francisco. <the whole story>

A couple of thoughts:

Here is an interesting story to get you thinking more about First Amendment rights . Some might say that the site in question is full of lies anyways, so why not shut it down. Others will say this is censorship of the worst kind.

As most of you know, I am pretty hesitant about “banning” anything and would probably have taken a different route than that chosen by this “misguided judge.” As the story points out, if someone had a problem with a particular story in a newspaper, the story would be dealt with; the newspaper would not be shut down. For those of you who simply assume that sites like this are full of nothing but lies and should be shut down, I can only respond by saying, “How do you know that?” Where are you getting your information from? Do you know the whole story or are you simply relating what you heard on the nightly news?

Listen, if you have evidence that a particular story is inaccurate, then do whatever you can to let the truth be known. This is not about disseminating lies. But the truth is, lies are going to remain in the pot as long as we allow truth in there as well. That is the nature of a free society. Nations in history have attempted to “ban the lies” by turning newspapers, publishing houses and television studios into government agencies. Of course, what the people are sold as a lie-remedy turns out to be a prescription for propaganda sooner or later which inevitably leads to a loss of liberty. No. What is needed is discernment.

We have a built in method of mental protection and it’s called discernment. Unfortunately, discernment requires a level of responsibility and responsibility sounds like work and work is just so hard. Fortunately, the government is ready to step in and do your thinking for you.

Whew. Now you can get back to American Idol.

Olbermann Special Comment: Bush and FISA

February 16, 2008

Olbermann calls Bush out, again. While the Neocons want to write this stuff off to “Bush Hate”, the facts remain and cannot be denied. Bush regularly hangs himself with his own words and actions.  It is evident that Bush wants to incite fear in the American people.

Watch the whole thing.
