REGARDING CORAM DEO
Living before the face of God (or Coram Deo as it is much more elegantly stated in Latin) involves acknowledging the omnipresence of God, submitting to the authority of God and seeking to glorify God, all by the grace of God. All we say and do, whether seemingly mundane or obviously sacred, we do before God.
Existing somewhere between the mundane and the sacred (though admittedly nearer the former), even this little blog lies before the face of God and my hope is that in it - whether discussing Holy God or Halo’s baseball - God would be glorified and His creation edified.
REGARDING MYSELF
My name is Dan Morrow. My wife, Alison, and I have one precious daughter named Abigail Joy (2005) and one more child on the way (Coming March 2008). My wife is the talented author of Worlds Collide (Waterbrook) and Violette Between (Waterbrook) and is always working on new stories. You can learn a little more about her on her blog, A Little Creative License. I am the aspiring writer who has a couple of children’s books up for editorial review and is praying for the best. Hopefully sooner rather than later I will be able to change “aspiring” to “best selling” or at least “contracted.” : )
I am currently pursuing graduate studies in Christian Apologetics and Theology at Biola University. My prayer is that I will be able to help bridge the gap between academia and the lay person through teaching and writing in and for the body of Christ. I feel particularly called to the discipleship of both young Christians and those young in Christ (regardless of how long they have been “saved”). I believe that while the church has rightly sought to save the lost they have too often neglected to sanctify the saints. I firmly maintain that this lack of discipleship of the saved only contributes to the decline of Christendom and the rise of humanism.
Politically, I would hesitantly call myself a Christian Libertarian. Hesitantly because such a title means a variety of things to a variety of people. For now, that will have to do. I hope to compose a series of articles sooner or later dealing with the this and other related topics. Suffice it to say that I do not consider myself an alarmist, a conspiracy theorist, a crazy liberal, a conservative nutjob or a freakish libertine, though I have heard all of them before. In fact, that I have been accused of such divergent views encourages me in some way. Regardless, hang in there with me. If something strikes you as odd or wrong, let me know. That’s cool. No worries. Questions and concern is awesome. Much better than the name calling and ignorant rhetoric that is far too common and not worth addressing.
ABOUT THIS BLOG
This blog started out life as a personal diary, a place for me to share random things I considered important and somewhere for me to discuss issues related to theology and spiritual life. It has quickly become a political blog. While that was not my intention, I make no apologies. Also, I have not abandoned my initial intentions entirely. I am simply focusing on other pressing issues for the time being.
That said, my intention from day one was to use this blog as a catch-all while I developed at least two other blogs/Web sites, each focusing specifically on a given topic. I am still working on that and will let everyone know here as soon as things go live. Unfortunately, I do not have an ETA, so we will just have to wait and see. The plan is to have a political blog/resource, a theology & apologetics blog/resource and a family/personal blog for those close to me. Stay tuned.
DISCLAIMER
I do not necessarily endorse or agree with every site, resource, video or person I link to, post about or refer to. But yes, I do agree with most of it. : )
